Save Armenia Launches Save Armenia 2.0 and Peace Indicator at International Religious Freedom Summit to Support Armenia’s Security and Religious Freedom
New initiative introduces structured pathways for American advocacy and Armenian partnership engagement while unveiling conflict monitoring framework supporting Armenia’s long-term stability
Washington, D.C. – Save Armenia officially launched Save Armenia 2.0 during the International Religious Freedom Summit, introducing a new strategic phase focused on strengthening Armenia’s security, safeguarding religious freedom, and advancing long-term national resilience through policy advocacy, faith-based leadership, and U.S.–Armenia partnership initiatives.
The launch featured remarks from Armenian Ambassador Narek Mkrtchyan, Save Armenia Founder and Chair James Tufenkian, and Save Armenia CEO Dr. Paul Murray. The event convened faith leaders, policymakers, religious freedom advocates, and civil society partners to address the evolving security and diplomatic challenges facing Armenia, the world’s first Christian nation.
A New Strategic Phase Focused on Lasting Peace
Founder and Chair James Tufenkian emphasized that while recent diplomatic developments have lowered the immediate risk of large-scale military escalation, long-term risks remain. “Save Armenia was founded to rally Christians and the American government to stop the imminent invasion of the world’s first Christian country. It leaves us now with a new mission – to make sure that this reprieve leads to a lasting peace,” said Tufenkian.
He stressed that sustainable peace requires measurable behavioral change and international accountability. “Lasting peace requires two things: the signature of Aliyev on the peace treaty, and for Azerbaijan to change from preparation for war to preparation for peace.”
Introducing the Save Armenia Peace Indicator
A central component of Save Armenia 2.0 is the newly introduced Save Armenia Peace Indicator, a data-driven analytical framework designed to evaluate regional progress toward peace. “We needed an objective measure of Aliyev’s commitment to peace. So we created one,” Tufenkian said.
The Peace Indicator uses artificial intelligence methodologies and conflict analysis models to assess military posture, diplomatic behavior, public rhetoric, and policy alignment with peace commitments. Early findings indicate that progress toward sustainable peace remains fragile. “Since August 8 and its promises to give up war and pursue peace with Armenia, Azerbaijan has moved dramatically away from a commitment to peace,” Tufenkian added.
Expanding American Advocacy and Armenian Partnership Engagement
Save Armenia CEO Dr. Paul Murray explained that Save Armenia 2.0 expands the organization’s mission beyond crisis response by introducing structured pathways for American advocacy and Armenian partnership engagement, implemented through the Build Armenia initiative, which serves as the organization’s operational framework for long-term partnership and development efforts inside Armenia.
The engagement model focuses on mobilizing timely policy advocacy, expanding awareness through faith, civic, and professional networks, and strengthening Armenia’s long-term resilience through leadership development, strategic partnerships, and institutional capacity-building initiatives. “Armenia’s security, freedom, and future will not be preserved by concern alone. They will be preserved by organized, committed, and sustained engagement,” Murray said.
Save Armenia is developing leadership and partnership networks designed to respond during critical diplomatic moments, connect U.S. leaders with Armenian counterparts across key sectors including defense readiness, education, agriculture, technology, and civil society development, and sustain international attention to Armenia’s security and religious freedom challenges. “History does not only record what tyrants do. It also records what serious people failed to do in time,” Murray said.
Murray emphasized that durable peace requires long-term relationship-building and cooperative development efforts alongside diplomatic progress. “Peace is preserved not only by agreements, but by relationships strong enough to withstand pressure and partnerships capable of strengthening a nation from within,” Murray added.
Save Armenia invited faith leaders, policymakers, and civil society partners to participate in advocacy, peace monitoring, leadership engagement, and partnership initiatives supporting Armenia’s sovereignty and religious freedom.
